We’re looking forward to seeing network Navigators and Coaches at the WorkLab Innovations annual training event! The event will be held at Gary Community Investments in downtown Denver near Union Station. (Thanks to our gracious hosts there!)

HOTEL INFORMATION:  We are recommending to book through consolidator sites like Hotels.com, Orbitz.com or Kayak.com since it appears to be the most economical route at this time. Hotels in the $160/night range are:

TRANSPORTATION INFO:  The GCI meeting space is very close and walkable to downtown hotels and restaurants and the Union Station light rail stop (with direct airport access - click link for info).  No rental car or cab rides necessary!

Sustainable Workforce Model Fundamentals for Navigators/Coaches

Training Kick-Off - Lunch & Introductions:  11:30am 

Eat, mingle and connect with colleagues from across the WorkLab Network

Afternoon Sessions: 12:30 to 4:30

  • Data: Power and Possibilities - Why the data Navigators/Coaches collect has so much power and how it gets used
  • Change Machine - How to coach around client scenarios that involve consumer rights (such as: debt collection, predatory lending, rental reporting, evictions, repossessions, garnishment, etc.), referral triggers to look for, and the process of finding a good referral partner.
  • Creating better action plans / followup structure
  • Problem solving groups - Using MI to solve difficult scenarios

Network Dinner Gathering and Discussion:  5 to 7:30pm

 

 Tuesday, May 14 

The Hero’s Journey of the Helping Professional:  8:30 to 11:30am

We’re pleased to be able to offer this special training with JoAnn Burton.  JoAnn uses Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey as a launchpad for helping professionals to:

  • Acquire new and effective approaches (knowledge, skills and perspectives) in dealing with tests, foes and challenges on the job
  • Work more effectively with clients who are on their own journey of change.
  • Gain insights and heighten awareness leading to more life choices and self efficacy
  • Acquire new language and concepts about the journey that are affirming, empowering and humanizing

Lunch and HR/Employer panel discussion:  11:30am - 1pm:

Insight into “what is expected of Navigators” in addition to providing feedback on what’s worked and what hasn’t worked in terms of outreach, the expansion of partnership beyond the Navigator, and more - based on questions and discussion. 

Afternoon Sessions:  1:30 to 2:30

  • Guiding Clients through Health Insurance and Medical Bill Challenges
  • Reflection Session
Adjourn:  2:30 to 3:00pm  (so you can fly out that day)
