In 2003, a group of employers got together to solve a problem they were facing across their companies; many of their employees were facing barriers that interfered with their employment. These seven companies formed The SOURCE, a nonprofit centered on providing services to employees of member companies in order to help them retain employment and advance their careers.

Sustainable Workforce Model launches in Omaha following successful pilot program

We're thrilled to announce the launch of a new Sustainable Workforce Model program, expanding access to Resource Navigators in Omaha, Nebraska. The Greater Omaha WorkLab (GrOW) is now offering our unique model of frontline worker support to Omaha-area employers looking to support, engage, and retain their employees.The program is launching within the Greater Omaha Chamber with a three-year grant from Lozier Corporation.

Harvard Kennedy Researcher Recommends Pilot of Sustainable Workforce Model in San Francisco

The Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) helps thousands of San Francisco residents train for in-demand work and connect with employment opportunities. However, the low retention rate among these workers has been an ongoing challenge for the agency. A researcher and Master in Public Policy candidate from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Cassandra Agbayani, conducted a policy analysis for OEWD to explore why retention is so difficult to promote and what promising strategies could be replicated in San Francisco.

For some, the U.S. economy is humming along: unemployment is at its lowest level since before the Great Recession, wages are improving, and the economic expansion that began in 2009 is poised to become the second-longest period of economic growth in our nation's history.

At the same time, many others feel financial uncertainty. For them, the  American Dream remains far out of reach. They're unsure about where they fit into today's economy. In today's changing economy, workers who have traditionally struggled to find well-paid, meaningful work need access to better opportunities. But to really expand economic opportunity for everyone, it's important to think beyond the simple metric of more jobs.
