A Small Investment in a New Career

Posted on September 13, 2018

Richard* had completed a network desktop specialist training at a local technical college, but he never got the certifications he needed to enter the field. He worked two jobs to support his wife and three children and couldn't afford to pay for the certification exams.

His Navigator was able to provide him with Upskill grant funding to pay for the exams he needed. Richard studied hard and was able to pass both certification exams to receive his A+ certification. Because he had no professional experience in the field, he was worried about finding an entry-level job, so his Navigator worked with him on updating his resume and cover letters to help bridge the gap between his professional experience and his recent educational experience. He began applying for entry-level IT positions with his updated resume and cover letter feeling much more confident and ready to change career fields.
